Microsoft has steadily increased the security functions, some of the new patches and security updates dramatically lock up features in Outlook. The Outlook email client has 2 levels of security. LEVEL 1 and LEVEL 2. Any attachments that are by default in the level 1 list will not be allowed to be transmitted. While most of these restrictions are a definite plus , they do at times interfere with valid business transactions.
Our solution in past, was to WINZIP any attachment that was locked up by LEVEL 1 security.
However there is a COM Addin for Outlook that will allow one to move Level 1 files with a specific extension into the Level 2 security, which means that you can directly attach and transmit the file.
Close OUTLOOK before doing the install.
Once the software is installed launch OUTLOOK , you will see a new tab under TOOLS / OPTIONS called ATTACHMENT SECURITY AND OPTIONS. Here, you may move the specific FILE EXTENSION from LEVEL 1 to LEVEL 2.
Close and Re-launch Outlook you will now be able to transmit these files directly.
