so i am on the can yesterday and i hear several sales people come in and use the facilities. when they are done they walk oout, WITHOUT washing their hands. i find this rather disgusting, not to mention unhygenic. i sort of know who it was, but i didn't actually see them. what would you do?

I would make a mental note not to shake their hand or touch things after they do.

There is nothing you can do - you're not a restaurant.

You may not be able to require them to use proper hygiene-but certainly you can request them to. I would do it as a general request to all employees, or as a notice in the bathroom, I wouldn't single out or embarass these particular individuals, and you don't know that they are the only ones.

You may not be a restaurant, but your salespeople are (hopefully) greeting customers with a handshake!

Another consideration is they are using the door knob that all other employees use to exit the facility. EEEWWWW!

Jazdale...

I was wondering... do you wash your hands after using "the facilities"?

this thread puts a whole new perspective on the community jugs of pretzels and goldfish crackers we have sitting in the employee lounge.

think twice about what you have

THe EXACT reason I never participate in community jugs OR self-serve buffets. Nothing to do with snobbery, just the fact I don't know who has gone before.

Two men enter the washroom at the Harvard-Princeton-Yale club. They use the facilities and one heads for the sink and soap and the other heads for the door. The first guy says, "Excuse me, sir, but at Harvard University, the oldest educational institution in America, they taught us to wash our hands after using the facilities."

The other guy replies, "Well, at Yale they taught us not to pee on our fingers."

With pj's permission, I would copy and paste his story and have it framed so that anyone using the facilities could read it and maybe think about how they act.

UPDATE:

yesterday the sales manager bought the crew pizza, the alleged offending individuals were there pulling slices from the box and, you guessed it, touching the pizza crust of other slices that others were eating with their hands.

needless to say i went out to burger king for lunch that day...
