Are you an effective Parts Manager?

Postby Partsmadesimple » Mon Jun 18, 2001 8:08 am

I've posted 3 hot topics that affect the parts manager's job on a regular basis.

1. Fill Rate
2. Days Supply
3. ABC Sourcing

Your reply and opinion is requested. Fill rates, days supply, and turn rates have been the most controversial subjects about parts management for 2 decades.

I have a lot of fun with these 3 subjects in a group discussion. The sad reality though is a lot of parts managers have been humiliated, demoted, and worse - fired as a result of key management's interpretation of fill rates and days supply. Turn rates and the obsolescence calculation puts a little salt in the wound also.

Are you an effective parts manager?

What reports, calculations, statistics, etc. support your position that you are effective?

I have an opinion too and I will post my thoughts after you've had an opportunity to express your position on the subjects.

Have a GREAT week!

Thank you - Tim Deel
