Drivers License (card swiping)

Does anyone know if any of the system vendors (ADP or RR) have the ability to integrate a drivers license card swiping unit into their showroom control application (the text based version) for capturing prospect name information into the prospect screen? I'm trying to easily capture prospect information without having to invest in one of the complete PC based front end selling systems that do feature this capability.

I believe the UCS system has the ability. I am not 100% sure of either ADP or Reynolds. I believe it also reads credit cards and a couple of other magnetic stripes.

To my knowledge, ADP and R&R do not integrate driver's license scanning to their old ERA and Elite suites, but that doesn't mean they aren't working on something. Have you asked them? I think ADP did it with their Sales Advisor product and R&R did it with their Sales Vision product, but I don't know the status of those products and I am not sure if they are even still selling them. If they are still selling those products, from what I remember they were pretty pricey.

There is a third party text-based front-end system (F&I, Prospecting, Customer Follow-up, etc..) that has scanning capabilities and interfaces with ADP & R&R. It's a pretty extensive application and dealer's I have talked to who are on it seem to really like it. That might be more than what you are looking for. If that is something you might be interested in email me. I don't work for them, etc.. I just know about them and their product.

Murphy is correct. UCS does have this capability.

There are several web-based CRM solution providers that can provide card swiping capabilities as well as a two-way integration with the DMS, although I am not sure if all of them offer an email account like Corp apparently does.

There are a huge number of CRM products out there that can interface with ADP of R&R. Has anyone done any real comparison of these products to determine which has the most bang for the buck? I would assume the web based products would be the best way to go considering their flexibility and easy integration into multiple locations.

ADP does have a DL-Card Scan product that interfaces into Showroom control. The DL info updates Showroom AMP screen without any third party interfaces. We just got it installed at our dealership and It works great!!

We use it on a PC and a Green Screen.

This is an odd conversation that you are all having. If find it very interesting. Actually, there are currently no products that integrate both ways with any DMS system real-time. Most CRM companies are coming out with that ability shortly, but they are hostile interfaces. A company called Dealer is supposed to have one that truly integrates. It actually works within the DMS itself. But, I have yet to see it and I believe it is expensive.

Now, there are several that will read and write to the system at the end of the day, or of several days, but that really isn't of much value to most.

Additionally, ADP and UCS are the only DMS systems currently that have the DL-Scan. But, their CRM tools are very hard to use. Cowboy has been talking about it for a long time, but it has never come out. Additionally, they have lots of problems and never seem to prouduce anything on time. They are plagued with issues.

There is only one third party web based CRM solution that I have heard of that has the DL-Scan. I actually saw a demo of it and it looked really good! We were not in the market for one at that time though, and I forgot the name. I'll let you know if I can find it. Please write if anyone knows.

By the way, I find it interesting that both BDC Manager and David Cates work for the companies that they are recommending. Isn't that interesting?
