Heavy Core Chargebacks

Hope everyone is keeping all your core return paperwork for at least 6 months after you receive credit. I have had several debits in the last few days on cores I returned in September/October. Luckily, i have held my paperwork that long, and can disprove their claim that i never shipped the parts. Does GM think we have time to follow-up on everything, or do they figure the money they can screw out of dealers will help their bottom line? I just cannot believe how out of touch GM is with their dealer body, and how antaganistic they are with programs like this.

Richard, what was the reason for the debit? Was it actually for not returning the parts? Or was it another reason. For example, returning a transmission core that was missing a few parts, or a PCM that had been opened up, or maybe an engine core that was not drained and made a mess on the wrong person's shoes? Or maybe even there was an exchange program on the part and it had been disassembled? I would be interested i knowing the reason in case it's something we need to be extra careful about.

Hey, since GM can't make a profit selling cars, how do you think all of those millionaire MBA's in Detroit are going to keep getting their bonuses unless they squeeze it out of the dealers? Man, I'm glad we sold our Olds franchise! I feel for ya brother!

It was a claimed shortage. They claim they had not received the parts, which is why you have to fax all supporting documentation in, once you get debted the'shortage'. In other words, it is 100% your respondsiblity to make sure to hold all your paperwork on every core return for at least 6 months.

I have had the same problem but my local PDC tells me it is because the Heavy Core Department is so far behind that the warnings I am getting can be ignored because they are inaccurate due to the backlog. I do have another problem though. I just got charged freight for 2 new transmissions that I returned on an MRP in October!!!! That's the first time I ever remember getting charged freight on an MRP, anybody else having that problem? Mike

I just received a DCS message about a heavy
core application that was close to 60 days old that GM couldnt account for. I was told the same thing about being back logged and
that a simple fax with the corrosponding
paperwork was all that was needed to get my
credit on the way. I was called today from
the heavy core return person and was told the
same procedure to go through. My responce was
that I had done so last week 02/21 and the
person said,(honest to god) I was gone last
week and that the first fax was probably in
the other guys pile! Would I please send the
fax again.
Can you believe that GM only has 2 people
processing heavy core return paperwork?

I was at a GM Western Region meeting last week and one of the guys froom GM said that starting this week dealers will not get charged back until they are contacted by phone to obtain a tracking number or find out if they sent the core back. They acknowledged the process is not working and are trying to fix it.
