ADP Advantage(new system being installed)

Postby Robert a Bamert jr » Wed Feb 06, 2002 9:29 am

We are finally comming out of the dark ages with our in house system, and training starts at the end of the month. Does anyone have any pitfalls with this system i should know about, or look-out for.I'am just happy to be going to a PC based system with Electronic RO's. So the shop will have to get-it together, and parts prices will remain what we set them at.I have worked before with R&R which i thought is a good system, but ADP advantage, i think this is going to be a tough transision. And what happens to all our old info stored on the old system for parts history does ADP just transfer the data? I would like any information you are willing to share, Thanks BOB

Old Data:
Depends on the system you are moving from. Most likely ADP will be able to convert most of that data to there system. We have been on ADP for several years now, converted from the old Volkswagen inhouse system which had a few big advantages over ADP. The key was learning to adapt our business to work with the ADP methods. It took some effort to be open minded about some of the changes but in the end I beleive we have a vastly superior system.

A long time ago we were on the old Display Data system (COIN) which I believe was
R&R. When we switched to ADP all history and info seemed to migrate correctly as I don't
remember having a problem.

Robert,

You mentioned the ADP Advantage (PC-based) system. Do you mean Alliance? Or is ADP possibly pushing a newer PC-based solution? The ADP Advantage system, as I know it, is the old Auto-tel System (ATS) software. ADP, after its acquisition of Dyatron (Convergent Technology) and ATS, combined features from both of these systems to develop the Alliance system

JBBarrow,Yes you are correct we have a old ATS system(with advantage software)and we are upgrading to Alliance.I only hope it is better, counts are always off with oversold and prepaid parts. We did a Inv.in Dec. which made a mess of ticket numbers in the system that were not made into a Invoice yet.uh, when we did print them the net price didn't total on the bill, and frt just disapeared. we also cann't void a control number in the transmision file without locking up the terminal. It can only get better, i guess. Thanks for the clarification.
