Any one done a GM termination return recently? We will be doing one within the next month but the procedures seem to be different than what I remember.

GM Termination Return

If it's for parts, they certainly have changed. Used to be, a termimnation return you could return ANY part in ANY condition and receive credit from GM. Not anymore.
Since the advent of computers and locator systems, the General dials into your system
and pulls the inventory. They basiclly tell
you what is obselete in your inventory.I just went thru one about a year ago. Funny thing
is, after the return, I missed my RSG for
that month. Seems about half of my RSG parts
went back on THE GENERALS termination return.
But, that's another topic.

for parts

Our APM says to use the total $$ figure supplied and we can return any part tagged as returnable in the system. He said the $$ amount is the key vs. the actual numbers they sent back in the spreadsheet. This conflicts with what I am reading. Partsguy99 did you submit any numbers that were not on the "list" they sent you and id they take them back?

partsguy99 is correct.THEY tell you what you can return AND the dollar value. Gone are the days of 'filling in' from other sources. Did one about 15 mos ago-what a joy! They scan your purchases for the past SEVEN years-if you didn't get it from the 'General'-forgetaboutit!

homeslym,

We just did our olds termination return in february. My apm gave me the $$ amount to return. The general did not send a list of parts we could return. I created the list and sent them back. They do get very picky about the condition af the packages though. All in all it wasn't too much of a hassle. Especially considering the general was involved.

I think the Olds return is a different animal from the normal GM termination return.

Dave

I would hope one day the General has more concern over the condition of some of what they ship out. After all what are they doing with that "handling charge" they access to some parts on a return. At 25% of the part value ($50.00 for an alternator box) you would think they could do better or is this just another way to hose the dealer.

OLDPARTSGUY,

I agree with you 100%. I asked my apm once about why i have to accept crushed boxes from them, but they wont accept them from me without a repack fee. His response was, "IF you get a damaged carton save it for me and I'll see what i can do" so typical. I would run out of warehouse space in a month.
Thanks for letting me vent
