Oil change prices .......

I have been struggling with this one for a few days now.

We are on an ADP system and I have been trying to determine the best way to "one-price" an oil change special, you know like we used to do with the Quick Lube program. My problem is how can I accurately determine our average cost of an oil change. There are so many variables now, such as:

We are GM Dealer.
We see everything from "GEO to Cadillac"
Oil capacity (requirements) vary from 4 to 8 quarts.
Have you seen some of the filter prices for GEO (older small Chevy)?
This doesn't take in to account Corvette synthetic and diesel - which have to be excluded.

How are you doing this?

ADP says it is not possible for the computer to pull average cost of specific labor op #.

We have had extremely low response to advertising stating X number of dollars off a LOF. We have ran ads in the newspaper as well as direct mailings with discounts of up to $5.00.

Fishing for ideas.

I use RDH. It has a feature called OP Code Analysis. It doesn't give cost, but you can figure it out from there.

Try using function RDH (RO document history) and choose the O (op-code analysis) or G (graph opcode statistics) option.
Not exactly what you're looking for, but will give you insight on hits/GP/etc.

*******
If you want to flex your RPG/RPX skills, you could run a report from the HISTORY file and report all ROs in a specific time frame that have a specific op-code.

Make sure that you sort by-exploded op-code. This is very important.

Your output should include labor sale, labor cost, part sale, and part cost. May need to add misc charges if thats how you sell oil. Total these dollar fields so you can divide the total by the number of jobs performed.
