What does everybody do with used tires? Do you charge a disposal fee to the customer? How much?

We pay $1.50 for pickup and just add the extra cost to the tire price- I have found that an additional, separate fee doesn' go over too well

We require our suppliers to pick up. I'm sure the fee is in the price, but I don't see it.

Charge the fee, but make sure you keep records of the disposal. Used tires are not like new ones, you have to keep records of the material disposal because they are considered petrolium compound waste.

We add it into the price of the tire. We explain to the customer that we have included it, rather than adding it seperate. We keep receipts of our scrap tire disposal, ours are used at a cement plant for fuel for the furnace.

Just a reminder for us California (and possibly others) that if you haul the tires yourself, 9 is the max at one time w/o a haz-mat permit.

Put two used tires in the trunk of every wholesale unit - plus drain the fuel tank of that wholesale unit to use for your shuttle vehicle
