I turned the source update OFF on ADP and mine did not change sources for Dec.

Shockingly it actually worked.

So if I'm using that source is it just going to add everything in ontop of what I'm using it for? and is there any way to make it not do that in AutoSoft?

Turning off the ‘source’ update for the December Price Tape Update, IMHO, simply postpones the inevitable acceptance of the default sourcing designations built into the Price Master.

What it accomplishes is merely preventing the source movement of ‘ON FILE’ part numbers at the time of the update.

From my experience, adding ‘NOT ON FILE’ part numbers, AFTER accessing the Master File, the new numbers will AUTOMATICALLY go to the Source Designated by the Price Tape Source Indicator. So, essentially all future additions of NEW NUMBERS will get deposited into these Sources. I know of no way, in CDK,to prevent the forcing of these parts to the default sources at the time of addition.

We had Sources 102-104 set up for Menu Items, etc., prior to Dec., and after running the Price Update without having the source update unchecked, all the MPL parts were shifted to these sources, on top of what was already there.

Continuing to use these sources as we originally intended would be futile considering the pricing structures we had set up for them. Batch changing the added parts back to the former sourcing would become a daily, weekly or monthly task. Why embark on that?

With that in mind, we have created a new source(s) and moved the parts that were formerly in 102-104, along with their pricing setups to accommodate our menu items, etc.

Between now and January 1,while LIST and TRADE are still showing in CDK, we can take a look at the pricing margins that were in place prior to the MPL and potentially set up generic pricing escalators in the new Sources before full MPL implementation.

If AutoSoft has similar Price Tape Source Indicators, it is possible you’re in the same boat.
