GM PI0564H Wax Coating On Frame peeling

This is a new one to me. Hope one of you can provide me with some insight. We have a vehicle concern with regards to this # PI056H So far I only know of one vehicle we need to address this with. Since I need to call and order this I don't know how much quantity to get. It requires you to strip the wax coating off the frame by the effected areas and reapply the Rust Preventative coating.

Has anyone performed this and how much should I purchase for one vehicle.

If I remember correctly, the daubert nox rust and the Lloyd's metal prep are only sold in case quantities.



We've done 3 trucks I think. If you can do this somewhere out of the way, it would be best. The old stuff gets everywhere and is a pain to clean off of the epoxy floor that we have.

As far as amount used, it depends on how must material you have to remove and replace with new.

We've one over 30 trucks. I would recommend 3 of all three products. We use 2-3 per vehicle but have used 4 a couple of times.

I used to buy them individually and I think that is still an option. Don't let them schedule the customer until you get the product some of it comes from Canada and almost always gets stuck at the border for a few days.

You may want to check with any local dealers that have a body shop, they tend to do more and may sell you some individual cans. We sell them to other dealers from time to time.

Thank You for the replies. We ordered one case of each of the three products. I like the idea if another local dealer needs we can help out one of our friends.

We have a body-shop and that's most likely where the job would be done. I cannot imagine one of our Service techs doing this, with all the potential mess. Are you actually having the service department perform this procedure?

the trucks we did were all done in our service department, and was handled rather poorly in my opinion. but i'm merely a parts guy.

we have one guy in our body shop, and he doesn't like when people intrude into his space.

Ok, we now have done our first vehicle, any idea how to charge out the parts and how much?

I figured it should be put in as a "NET" item and not billed as a part. But not sure how much to tell service the put as a $ amount.

We billed the amount that we paid for the product as cost and added the 40%. We billed it as parts. Make copies of your bill from where you purchased the product, as we also needed that to get our claims to go through.

I posted the entire expense to shop supplies, freight and all. Advise the tech to specify on the RO comments how much of each product they use and the warranty clerk collects the allowable amount. I do this with all of their non-GM-part-number vendor supplied BS chemicals, and even the GM chems that they say will service 50 vehicles. GM will not reimburse freight or markup on these "net" items anyway, so there no hope at all of getting back what you paid for it, and they will never get 50 repairs out of that tube of glue no-how. So the $ amount left on the table would be a write-off anyway.
