Tire price match again....

Ok just curious how other dealers on Reynolds handle there Tire Price Matches. Then also what accounts you direct the credits towards. Today my controler had me sell the tire on the RO, not changing cost or sale price on tire but then on the back end of the repair order give a parts discount/coupon in the amount of the difference. So I am curious #1 if this is the correct way? or is there a better easier way to do this and where to put the money when it comes back in. Any input or how other dealers are handling this would be great. Thanks!

We had acctg set up an "additional pay method" that would charge the price match amount to 65D&F. The service advisor logs to Tire Billing on and files the claim, then turns a copy in to me in parts. I match up the credits from the GM parts invoices and credit 65D&F. 3 yrs, only one didn't pay and it was the advisors fault.

we sell the tires at a loss on the RO. the price match guarantee guidelines state that you must sell the tires at the price match value. I would be concerned about your procedure if you were audited, this might be perceived as a chargeback.

when we get the credit it goes to acct 690.

We adjust the selling price on the ticket and when we get the price match money in on the open account we credit 490.

The last dealer I was at had a coupon just for tire price matches so the controller could see what still needed to be reconciled.

Here at our dealer we sell at the price match price . we don't touch cost. I keep a copy of pricematch and submit myself. I record the profit in 687-00 and return the cost of the tire to 243-00. I also manually keep a log of the sale and give the profit to the parts counterperson that sold it. I pay them on individual gross profit.

That sounds like a lot of extra work. How do you not change the cost of the tire on the repair order so the customer pays the price match price?
We just change the price to match the price match price on the RO; then I keep a copy of the claim in price match folder and when I reconcile the credit gets applied to 68700. You could do all of the accounting that you do when you reconcile as well...

THE SALE PRICE ON RO IS CHANGED TO THE PRICEMATCH, BUT COST IS NOT CHANGED. AND YES I DO THAT WHEN I SUBMIT THE PRICE MATCH.
EXAMPLE 1 : dealer cost is $128.89, I sell for $120. Dealer list price is $155.29 ////The total claim is $35.29. so $ 8.89 is applied to 243 (tire acct) and the rest of the claim is put into profit manually($26.40). I also see every GM invoice so I mirror those figures for the office to post correctly. I would rather my counterpersons work a little extra pricematching then giving a percentage discount. I pay them for there hard work. MORE MONEY.

Example 2; dealer cost is $100.29 I sell at price match $104.00 . retail price on tire is $129.37. Counterman gets paid on profit on ro $3.71 then when I file claim I pay him the rest $25.37 manually at the end of month.

Manually: I record sales in notebook then at end of month I add it to there totals.

I understand. Even though you said you didn't change the cost I thought that also meant you didn't modify the sale price.
I just put all of ours into profit since we get paid off of gross profit here.
