with "suggested" retail prices on GM Parts?

I only ask because the ones who will seem to benefit the greatest are Insurance Companies and Extended Warranty Companies. I haven't tracked every part number however I have spot checked just a few numbers we sell and compared "suggested" retail prices (off our DMS, which is still matrixed at the old GM suggested retail price) vs MPL "retail" prices on OEC. What i've found is that MPL retail is less than the "old suggested retail" and the percentages vary anywhere from 0.98xxxxx% to 1.97xxxxx% less than the old "suggested" retail price.

As an example:

15129652 Emblem

"Old suggested retail" was $ 43.76
"MPL" suggested retail is $ 42.90

If my math is correct, that's a decrease of 0.9803473% / or $ 0.86 per piece which may not seem like much....but once you add the amount of "SILVERADO" emblems that are on Silverados (QTY of 3 ; 1 for the tailgate; 2 for front doors) the .086 adds up quickly once you add in the number of Silverados that are on the road today. So who really benefits from MPL ?

GM (MyPriceLink) will slowly bring the LIST prices down to compete with aftermarket, without changing your cost. The margin will become very slim if you want to give your body shop a discount. Some will need BUMP to compete, but that only gives you 14% anyway. The only way to keep any profit is to become a Certified Wholesaler (see GM"s extensive commitment and compliance policies on this program) and use the Truckload sheet metal/fascia/grille programs. Together with Volume Discount and SLP compliance you could actually make some profit.
The point is that very few dealers have the facility, purchasing power and Dealer Principal commitment to infrastructure, payroll and receivables budget, and GM knows and counts on this. You will not be able to "dabble" in wholesale anymore. You're either in all the way or not at all.

He is exactly right.

We still 'dabble' but at some point - depending on MPL's live span - we may have to look at it.

But to answer your original question - according to GM - we the dealers asked for this. :o :o
It was created in response to requests to become more competitive.

If they really wanted us to be competitive - we would be. Many ways to do it without us being squeezed. Remember wholesale comp? We sold parts to independents at COST. And doors didn't cost $1,000 either.

I agree, this program is designed to not cost GM anything.

I'm sure GM didn't see where we also requested for lower costs. I'm glad I have only 3 more years of this crap. I will then be 55 and ready for retirement.

Where else are they going to get a Silverado emblem? why would they lower prices on stuff that you cant get anywhere else?

Shocker give yourself a pat on the back. You probably just gave someone at GM a bonus for using your idea. They probably didn't factor that into the equation.

I have a good friend who is fairly high up the G.M. corporate hierarchy. He told me that the General couldn’t care less if dealers lose money because of this; all they care about is vehicle sales. This took so long because of the liability. They had to make sure they did this idiotic program without being sued by 85% of its dealer body. They don’t care about us one bit.

The dealer's won't sue, too afraid of losing their franchise- which is why we have RIM, MPL, GM TIre Program, Same-Day Repair, and anything else GM decides to regurgitate on us, because the dealers signed an agreement that GM can do this and so much more at anytime. It's all about lowering costs for GM, which means cutting big shipments to small dealers.
