gm oil program

Just curious.. any GM dealers out there not on the GM oil program? If so, I have a few questions.
1. Why did you choose this?
2. How (if at all) does it effect your Loyalty Performance %.
3. Is there anything else that you can think of that it effects as far as dealership $$?

I only know of one in my district not on the GM oil program and they are tiny.

It is the only real place you earn return reserve on a consistent basis. Yes, it WILL effect your Loyalty #'s and good luck staying RIM compliant. (Loosing RIM compliance means you get no discount, no return reserve, you lose MR 11 returns, and you get a surcharge on every order, no matter the type.)

We looked into it, and decided it was a very bad ideal.

I didn't think oil purchased effected your RIM compliance. Am I wrong?

Oil would not show up as a RIM recommended part, therefore it would not effect your RIM compliance.

I believe it would affect your sales loyalty but not RIM compliance. They track the dollar amount of oil you purchase and subtract sales on ro's. If you sell more than you bought it will count against you as well.

One thing to consider.

And I don't think this has changed but I would suggest you look into it PRIOR to making a decision.

If you don't use GM oil you cannot request reimbursement for any free LOF / Rotate as part of the new vehicle program or certified used program. At $35 to $85 per vehicle (free) serviced this could easily surpass any potential gain in parts. Of course if you cannot offer the service free you have two choices:

1 - absorb all costs associated with the program
or
2 - send them to a dealer that does the program. With current EBE customer retention numbers this is not an option.

Enjoy your GM oil. You have no real choice. Besides, with GM the only full synthetic Dexos1 oil out there and the 1.5 turbo engines now REQUIRING full synthetic why would you want to change?

If you have some aged inventory issues, it is a good way to capture some reserve money. Also, use the GM part numbers for the oil you purchase, because it will affect your sales loyalty percentage if you make up something other than what you are being invoiced.
I may be wrong, but the purchases also help in your VDI amounts. But double check that.
