Kinda hard to do that when they change the rules and add expenses without discussing them with you, and it affects your pay.

You are extremely underpaid. I am in the same state as you about 60 miles away as a matter of fact.
My parts consultants get paid hourly and 1.5% of gross profit!
You as a one man show should definitely get a salary and 3-5% of gross profit in my opinion.

Nuts is an understatement. I pay my drivers more than you're making as a manager. Time to call them on that BS.

I pay my freight guy more than that, and my drivers make more than him.

Yeah, you are grossly underpaid.

What are you making, less than 3K a month even with lots of overtime? You can be a counterperson anywhere else for more money and less hours and stress.

Like I said earlier, I'll bet you are at the level of pay you are because it's still your "first" gig. You will usually need to move on to get the going rate. Not an easy thing to do. You're obviously a loyal employee there.

I'm sure it's very difficult for any employer to give the huge pay raise you should have. There's no way in hell they could replace you for that amount.

I put up with the same thing for a long time and would probably still be dealing with it if we hadn't closed our doors a year and a half ago. I worked for the same people for 23 years.

I know it's easier said then done. I couldn't do it. They felt like family but I knew I was being taken advantage of and I was treated like gold except for the paycheck. You probably feel similar and are treated very well as well. We went out of business and I was rewarded with about a 30% pay raise at my new job and I actually have more than 1 employee here. I can take vacations now, call in sick and do all the other shit normal people do.

Good luck man, I really feel for you

The guy I replaced back in 2013 was at our other location 7 months before he came to the store I work at. I had to hold his hand and he was the manager. The manager at our other store is a great guy. We get along great. He has helped me and I have saved him many times (he's been doing this 20+years). Funny thing is, he is a 2 man operation. I just feel that I get un-noticed I guess.

Those curious on #s...

10/hr hourly, 40 hours. Overtime is 15/hr. I punch right around 15-18 hours overtime. Takehome is $470-500 net/week. Commission is $500-700/month (depending on what we do obviously). I will have to check some of my papers out, I think its 3% but I don't recall if its off of gross or net. From some quick calculations from our gross for December from the DOC, it appears to be paid off of gross (going off of what I've received so far).

Vacation is a PITA. It pretty much revolves around the other manager's schedule or the fixed op's schedule. Last time I took two days was in September. I have one in February scheduled.

My fear always is that I know the ins and out of this place. What's coming in, PO's issued for incoming ACDelco/Aftermarket/Tire/etc. purchases. Things in the past have been done incorrectly when the wrong person watches for me while I'm out.

if you're getting 3% and your commission is only $5-700, you must be a very small store not doing a lot? I can't see that with 8 techs

Something to look into. If you are on the payroll as a manager I believe you have to be paid salary and it has to be at least $630/week in New York State.
More food for thought. If you grossed only $40K in a month which would be the worst month I ever had you would still have a $1200 commission before taxes if you made 3% of gross which is the minimum you should be making in my opinion...
