AIR BAG INFLATOR STUDY

AIR BAG INFLATOR STUDY

Postby CHUCKINPARTS » Fri Apr 21, 2017 7:29 pm

We were sent 9 airbag inflators for lot vehicles. A list was emailed to us with VINS and instructions for doing a “Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Study” and after we put them in we would get return docs for the WPC. We have the certification to ship UPS Hazmat. The bulletin says to use small package UPS or FEDX to return and if you are not Hazmat certified we have to use Central Transport. Our warranty clerk can’t find a place to choose UPS and we called the WPC and the guy was no help. Its like the first time anyone at GM heard of this. I told our warranty clerk the hell with it use the Central Transport box. I thought GM would send us a bill of lading with everything filled out……..NO . The warranty clerk filled it out and I know its not correct. Its missing hazmat class number, proper description. Has anyone else had to do this study and what did you do about returning them to the WPC……….

Wow. This looks worse than the Takata inflator modules return. No instuctions at all. I would suggest e-mailing the author of that bulletin. loren dot rusk at gm dot com. Good luck!

I have not had to return any airbags to the WPC yet however I had to fill out a lot of Hazmat paperwork to return
the old airbags. They wanted all of our airbags returned to TK Holdings Inc in Howell, MI
I had to call 1-877-523-9118 to request Hazmat return labels and the labels they sent were 3rd party billing
shipped via FedEx.

Don't know if this will help or not.

These don't go back to Takata. We had to take pictures of VIN and Airbag serial numbers and send to the WPC and not Takata. Always half the information is all we get from GM...................
