GM Key Code lookup Access

GM Key Code lookup Access

Postby brendanw » Fri May 26, 2017 5:52 pm

Greetings! I work for a small Chevrolet and Buick dealer in ND. Recently took over as parts manager. As this is the case, I have been doing my required GM training.

My question is, what is needed on the GM end to access key code lookup? I don't see ANY training modules that say anything pertaining to key and/or key code lookup. When I access the lookup feature, I am given an error that my GMID is invalid, along with the message "see Global Connect messages G_0000089864 and G_0000090576.

Any idea what I need to do to access this feature, or which training module I need to get completed to have access?

Any and all input is greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance

Never heard of that? So its not on global connect when you log on under parts? maybe your admin just needs to grant you access

I believe that you have to call or email your DMA and have them give you access for the application. It has been a few years ago since I went through
this process but that is what I had to do.

The key code lookup link is in the drop down menu in Global Connect/Parts Workbench under reports and tools, but when I click it, I get the following message

Your ID is invalid or do not have access to the system. Please refer to GlobalConnect message G_0000089864 and G_0000090576

If I use the dealer owner's login, I can access key code lookup with no issues.

Thanks

This is correct, it's assigned by your rep and they give you your unique code to be able to access them. Your login will have it's own 4 or 5 digit code assigned just to you

I have a key code ID that I use when logged in under the dealer admin, but I don't even get the option to enter the key code when logged in to Global Connect under my own GMIN

Have to get access from your systems administrator. Usually the dealer principal or general manager can get it for you...

That's because your GMIN # does not have access to key code lookup. You need to call your DMA and tell them that you need access to key code lookup
under your GMIN # and not the dealer admin GMIN #

Yeah, sounds like 2 issues - that would be first and then the key code ID would come from your DMA

Access to it would come from your sys admin and then the actual ID would be given by your DMA if I remember correctly.

There's a screen with a bunch of things the admin of your dealership can allow access to for each employee.
