Buying Delco parts from Delco supplier affecting loyalty?

I just returned from an NADA 20 Group meeting and several parts managers told me that each GM dealer has a "designated" AC Delco supplier that they can order from and not affect their parts purchase loyalty. I told them I didn't think that was correct but after talking to them they had me convinced. After getting back to the dealership I emailed my GMCCA rep and she told me that is not true. She said there is no such thing as a "designated" Delco supplier and if I bought from any Delco supplier it would affect my purchase loyalty.

Anyone have info on this?

My understanding of purchase loyalty program is that your rep is correct. The Delco warehouses each have their own area that they can operate in and they get spanked if they operate outside of it. Your loyalty scores will take a hit if you start buying from the Delco warehouses. My rep from Factory told me that some of his dealers would buy from GM one month and from him the next month.

I never understood the logic on this. You are still buying GM parts and why should it matter to GM where you get them from.

Because the GENERAL gives it's dealer parts depts. a WHOPPING 1% DISCOUNT for parts purchases versus jobber pricing discount of 10 to 15 TIMES the GENERALS discount. That's the reason the whole "Purchase Loyalty" bullshit was started. My 687 account took about a 3000 grand per month hit. But I'm HARDLY BITTER at all.

any purchase made outside of the GMCCA supply chain is consider dis-loyal. the dealer/20 group advice/comments are wrong.

the thing that tweeks me is that this is all supposed to be for SameDay repair, right?? But if RIM does not keep enough on the shelf and I need to buyout to provide SameDay repair, that purchase is consider dis-loyal. For me to wait on RIM would or could mean a two day wait if I am to remain loyal. Or if the part is on backorder, same thing... but I have had backorder buyouts reversed by the SameDay Adjuster Team, but that is a hassle.

I can't wait for the day that GM gets back in bed with ACDelco. For most of us our Delco suppliers provide same day delivery, some more than 1 time a day. Too bad GM penalizes us for making the their customers happy by buying from Delco. That great GM Feeling gotta love it.

In other words, it's not about buying genuine "GM" parts to use on your cars in service, It's "Buy From Me"; another acronym for RIM.

Make no mistake,
The General is trying to do away with WD's. If they could pull all the franchises and stay out of court, it would have already happened.
By pulling all the "gravy sales" (stock purchases) away from the WD's by forcing the dealers away from the WD's (hence the purchase loyalty program), it is the first step in a "starvation" program to force the WD's out.
Have you noticed the WD's are starting to pay the same price as dealers on more and more product lines?
(brakes, radiators, trans.parts,chemicals,etc)
WD's are losing discount percentages, payment terms, return reserve percentages.
It's just a matter of time.
Once they're out of the way, Lord knows what they will do to the dealers then.
