We keep a monthly RO open for shop supplies. When the techs need a 30lb cylinder of refridgerant, we bill all 30 lbs on the shop RO. As the techs use the freon they tell us how much for each job needs to be billed to the customer RO. When this happens, we in turn, credit the shop RO the same amount. In theory this works out even Steven, but in reality, service eats a few pounds when the tech or advisor fails to alert the parts counter of the sale.
Service managers understand that if it's not under parts dept. control.......Works like a charm. No more inventory loss from freon. CYA

"The worst thing a Parts Manager can do is to fall in love with his parts."
Re: Shop Supply Fluids
Refrigerant going missing usually indicates either side jobs being done or leaking machine ..... if we were out a lot of R134 i would bill it to the shop but make sure the manager knew to look at the machine ....

I've always found it's the technicians not telling the parts department they used somePartsgurl wrote:Refrigerant going missing usually indicates either side jobs being done or leaking machine ..... if we were out a lot of R134 i would bill it to the shop but make sure the manager knew to look at the machine ....

And you would think that the advisors would notice when they are closing the tickets, but that doesn't seem to happen either.

We lock out machine and in order for it to be unlocked we need the RO and the RO gets charged 40 oz. until the technician gives us a printout of how much Freon they actually used.
