Web based inventories

I need some help! Currently I have dealers that are selling their parts on line in three different ways.
1. They interface with ADP or R&R to populate their invenory, then adjust pricing etc.
2. They manually populate their inventory with their own part #, pricing, and description.
3. They do a combination of both.
These dealers are GM,Chrysler,Ford, and imports.
What I want to provide them with is a system like Sears or Western Auto where a customer can get go to THEIR web site, see a picture of the part, see the part number, see what other make and models this part fits, and see where it attaches to the car.
Availabilty and pricing will still be handled the same.
I hope this is clear enough on what I am looking for. My programmers are ready to build what I am looking for but we all get tired of reinventing the wheel.

Mike:
What you are talking about is an online catalog. It is a huge undertaking and lots of big companies have tried to accomplish it. The biggest problem is that to develop a accurate catalog you need to cooperation of the OEMs and they will not cooperate. Their fear is that the data will be used to sell aftermarket parts.

Companies like Parts.com have developed a catalog but it is a long way from being complete. A lot of people have tried to sell retail dealer parts over the Internet but parts managers will tell you that retail over the counter sales are not a big profit center. Just the return issue is huge. I would respectively suggest that your efforts would be better used elsewhere.

Mike, we've worked with a company called TOG. They give the dealers a web interface into their dms. This gives their parts customers access to their inventory in real time. I know they work with ADP systems (Bill Heard is a current customer). I don't know about R+R or UCS.

You can reach them at togroup.com

I hope this helps.

While attending the NACE convention in Orlando I came across these possibilities.
Check out www.oeconnection.com, www.choiceparts.com, www.wholesalefordparts.com and www.kia.com.
The first two options are B2B the last 2 options B2B and B2C. I hope this information is helpful.

Thanks everyone for your help.
one of the programs we developed and use, maintians inventory in real time with ADP. We haven't tried on anything else yet.
I am afraid that Mr. Burrows is right about the OEM's keeping it to themselves.
Thank you Frank,Bobby, and Alan.
Alan i will check out those sites, if anybody comes acrosss something please let me know.

I hope that this information will help. If you go to www.worldparts.com they have an extensive list of dealers who have there inventories listed on the internet. It is a great resource to be able to expose your inventory. They are able to use adp, ucs, reynolds and reynolds. If you have any more questions or need more info goto www.worldparts.com or feel free to email me at dallas@fairwaychevy.com
