Looking for the metrics on this number in today's market using "sales" price. Not cost.
All responses appreciated.

DOMESTIC? $

IMPORT? $

I found where NADA states domestic @ 33K and import @ 38K

Can anyone clarify whether this is based on cost, or sales?

Sales/employee/month; there is a problem using dollars as the indicator because of the varying cost of parts and the type of parts sold. A much better standard, the uses something that defines the actual work load and time spent is pieces/employee/month.
From your DMS you take the total pieces sold for the month plus the lost sales, and divide this number by the number of people working in the parts department. The current mean numbers run from 1400-2000/pieces/employee/month.
It is best to track this monthly for 4-6 months minimum before making any decisions about personnel. If the figure gets over 2500-3000 pieces/employee/month it is a good indication that you might need additional people

MR. NICHOLS,
Please clarify for me the definition of pieces sold for your calculation. For example, if I sell 8 spark plugs versus 4 spark plugs, do I treat these as individual pieces or as one set?
If I sell 6 quarts of oil, does that count as six or one?
