Dealertrack and Freight Charges

I have submitted this question to Dealertrack, figured I would ask those that work in the real world. A part is special ordered overnight, do you use the freight calculator to get a rough idea on freight charges? They do not appear until the next day on GM invoices, and it's impossible to open the ticket when the part has not been received to add what freight was invoiced. Everyone on the counter knows how to check in Fed Ex, we do not have dedicated stocking personnel, and there are times when the ticket is closed with no freight.

Can you have a parts invoice with freight on it only? CDK will allow you to. So if we forget to put the freight its not a big deal.Use the fedex freight calculator in global connect before you put the order in. It is accurate. If the price you are charged has a discrepancy you can file a claim to get your freight money back. I always take a snapshot of the fedex calculator and submit that with the claim.

The calculator pretty muck tells you . 1lb $12.84 round it to 14 or 15 . 2lb is same price. 3lb is 18.25 round it to 20.

I charge especially in todays world 2-3 overnights per day before we place the order. when the part comes we verify in global connect, but if it has been printed at least we have some freight on it.

9 out of 10 times I am charging for 1lb. $15.00 you can find the weight in Search Part Info in Parts workbench.

Use the calculator and bill the freight when you order the part. No need to wait for it to come in before billing the freight. The advisor will be on you to remove it before they close it if it doesn't belong there. They'll never come to you to add it.

Yep. And like olepartsguy said, round it up.
