Thanks for replying. As you correctly noted I am not in the dealer parts business, but I am a DMS developer and have been for 25 years.

None of the issues mentioned by you are unknown to me. All of them (and I am sure there are many more) are correctly addressed by my DMS. None of the dealers that use my DMS need to spend any time reconciling parts inventory and the general ledger, ever. The two are always 100% in sync. Period.

I was just surprised that in this day and age, dealers still need to do this kind of reconciliation manually. It should be a given that the parts reconcile with the general ledger. The same applies to every area of the dealership.

Where do people find time to sell and manage parts when so much time is spent reconciling parts and general ledger?
