Any New York managers know how to dispose of Freon canisters??
I have tried several different routes to try and legally dispose of these canisters and nobody can give me a solid answer! I know opening the valve and tossing them in the dumpster cant be the right way to do it! Any info is appreciated! Thank you!

Can you check with the company that disposes your oil filters or similar? If it is a regulation in your state, they would know about it.

I remember seeing a sign at our local dump site here in Virginia, Propane tanks must have a minimum of a three inch hole. No problem a 30/06 round takes care of that. Or just drive down the interstate at night, if they fall out and roll into the ditch, oh well.

I think autozone or advance auto sometimes take these? Not entirely sure about NY specifically but might be worth a quick call.

From what I understand, lots of recycling centers won't take these anymore. Had similar issues last month, ended up finding a specialty waste company but it wasn't cheap.
