We do a 60/40 parts sales split on retail/wholesale parts sales vs. repair order sales. I am looking for an incentive plan for those employees who process parts and provide support for the service techs. The retail/wholesale parts salespeople are paid a percentage of the parts sale gross and do an excellent job of servicing their customers and get raves on CSI reports. Any suggestions on how to put the back counter people on an incentive basis.

You could pay them on a portion of CP/Warranty labor. You could give them a bonus of Fixed it Right the first time to instill cooperation and going that extra mile..

Try paying the back counter folks a monthly incentive based on the total flat rate hours turned by the shop.Make it a tiered incentive -- any month the shop turns XXXX hours, each counter person receives an additional $100.
2nd tier is 5% higher than the first and pays $125 per man, and so on. This helps keep the counter people very focused on not having techs standing at the counter waiting. They often will even start delivering parts to the techs in their stalls!
