Sorry for delayed response.
We used them for about a year. The problem is the fact that selling online prohibits you from making significant profit per transaction. You need to sell at razor thin margins (for the sake of being competitive) so volume is the key to success. To get the volume to move ...

Parts markup to UCD?
Just curious what some of you guys are charging your UCD for internal parts? We were using 35 over cost as our markup until I convinced the higher ups that they could sustain full list price. Now theres obvious pushback from Used Cars but I have chatted with other parts managers who currently use ...

Re: Shop supplies
I get 35 over cost. Im curious does your Fixed Op dir or SM audit your charges to his dept? I just basically take the shop supply invoice from the local distibutor who comes by weekly and bill it out as a single item with the total invoice as cost. Vague I know but never questioned.

Re: General Manager FAIL

All of the things you list must have an impact that is obvious....volume wise, CSI wise, profit wise. Chances are if the GM is still running the show at this point he aint going nowhere, If its ...

Re: Wholesale road salesmen.
Toyota has an incredible return policy and right now my obelesence is around 5%. Not a concern.
As far as discounting, a normal independent mechanical shop is looking at 20 off list right now from me.
My very good accounts (large and active) will get 22.5-30% off. There are only a handful of these ...

Re: Wholesale road salesmen.
Service and internal sales drives our profit. Presently we do around 75-100k month wholesale. We also do not have a body shop and like you I have 3 body shops that are significant accts. These shops will stick with me no matter what. We give them lots of work.

Wholesale road salesmen.
We have a smaller dealership surrounded by some really big fish that have really stepped up the battle for wholesale. As a result over the years our wholesale has eroded. Im not willing to give it away because I cannot do the volume of business the wholesale superstores do to offset the discount ...

Re: Days Supply with Drive - I need some tweaks!!!!
Im on drive. I have my sources broken down into sales, not parts categories. I have the faster moving items weighted more heavily towards recent history and CP service dept. sales. One thing Ive noticed and there is no emperical formula for its occurance but I see when parts move away from their ...
