Automotive Parts Manager to Ag Equipment Parts Manager
Has anybody went from being an automotive Parts Manager to being an AG equipment Parts Manager. I have an interesting opportunity at the moment but am very nervous about making the jump as I know very little on Ag Equipment.

Re: Markup to the service dept
I think the service dept is going to be "buying" a lot of Optikleen instead of regular washer fluid from now ontmundal wrote:If they want to play that game, just make your markup on the cost when the stuff comes in the door.

If we have to order it, store it and hand it out then we assume we are untitled to a markup. So does our owner.
This is my opinion. ANYTHING that requires us to order, store, hand out and inventory should be marked up in my opinion. Unfortunately, others disagree.

Markup to the service dept
I was told I could no longer mark up parts to the service department. Is this normal? I am talking about items that we provide to the service dept that are not itemized on ROs. Things like washer fluid, brake fluid, DEF etc.

Re: Concerned Fellow GM Dealer
While I agree the counter people shouldn't be doing it unbeknownst to the DP and PM... take for instance transmission 19180251, several dealers show this at cost -24%. If I buy that at that price, and still sell it at "list" I just made $528 of extra gross on it for the dealership.

Re: Parts to Service manager
Our parts department is doing approximately 35% more in total sales than our service department. Gross is about 40% more than service.
Anybody have any numbers to compare? Our Service Department has been extremely slow the past year, but it seems like our Parts Department is still humming right ...
