SNAP ON EPC Contract Renewal

SNAP ON EPC Contract Renewal

Postby Fixed Ops Mgr » Tue May 02, 2017 6:14 pm

I need some input on what to do with our Snap On parts catalog contract which is coming up for renewal. I was just quoted a price of 695.00 per month for a new server and 3 licenses. I have
been arguing with our Snap On sales rep but to no avail. They know that they are the only game in town so I am at their mercy. I would like to know what others are paying for the EPC
and to see if I am really getting ripped off?

I am considering going to the online version through Globalconnect and eliminating the new server but the rep tells me that the price will be the same because we need 3 licenses anyway. This
makes no sense to me? Why would the price be the same if they are not leasing us a new server?? Another thought that I had was to have our IT dept load the parts catalog onto the new
service dept server that the service dept just received 5 months ago to run the techline applications. That server has plenty of room and power. I am not sure I could get away with this because
if I don't renew my contract then I will not get the updates for the server. I am told that the online version updates automatically so no updates are sent.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

I would ask for a breakdown of the charges in the quote.

Verify there is nothing else in there besides what you want.

I pay $1231 per month for a server and 6 licenses.

We renewed our contract last year. $60,000 for a five year contract. Four licenses, server, and new complete pc setups. We were using the online version. It has a few drawbacks. Any notes you put in there are on that PC only. And, using the group part numbers would still show duplicate part numbers. The server only has the part numbers by VIN. Either way, it's very expensive whichever you choose. Extortion

MANY YEARS AGO I SPOKE TO SOMEONE AT GM THAT TOLD ME THAT SNAP ON HAS A PRICE THAT THEY SHOULD ADHEAR TO THAT WAS PUT IN PLACE WHEN THEY SIGNED UP TO BE THE ONLY CATALOG. YOU MIGHT WANT TO SPEAK TO YOUR DSM ABOUT THAT INFO. IT MIGHT HELP LOWER YOUR COST. FOR ABOUT THREE YEARS ,BEFORE THIS NEW SERVER I HAD SERVICE WITHOUT THE SUPPORT AND ONLY CALLED THEM ONCE AND THEY DID NOT CHARGE ME ANY EXTRA.

We are paying $404.00/Mnth plus tax for 3 stand alones. I did a survey locally awhile ago and was amazed at the price spread from dealer to dealer.

$530 a month, contract renewal was in april 2016.
Four GM licenses only.
Using our own dedicated server and our own workstations.
No maintenance included.

Even if you use the online version, you still have to pay to play...

Are there other options than Snap on for Ford?

Our Ford Catalog is absolutely trash.
