Parts Managers: Same around the world

Parts Managers: Same around the world

Postby Mike Nicholes » Thu Aug 14, 2014 10:19 pm

My Friends: I had the opportunity to speak at the Brazilian version of NADA, called Fenabrava; and meet with many parts managers, and others, at the convention. I was impressed that the only difference in the questions and concerns were in the language spoken; this time Portugese (I had a translator although many of them spoke English). They wondered abouth the differences those in the US and Canada have as opposed to those that they have, on a daily basis, in Brazil. It seemed that the only difference was in the language; and maybe some of the scenery. So your fellows in this great occupation are pretty much the same all over the world. It has been an honor to work with all of you in many countries. may you all be successful... and watch out for the occasional crazies along the way; they seem to stalk the halls of every dealership in the world.

That sounds like a goodbye note in an old blues song Mike. Is this giving some indication of your departure?

no, it is not a 'swan song'; I will continue to work until my clients 'throw me off the porch' as irrelevant. It is just an expression of gratitude to a lot of parts managers and dealers who hellped direct a youngster, some time ago, on the right paths to helping others. It's just too much fun to "quit" and quitting is not in my nature; though there might be some who would likeit so.

To paraphrase a comment made a long time ago; "In nothing is one displeased more, than in those who fail to acknowledge what others have done for them".

Just a thought; but thanks for the 'observation'.

Is Brazil the country that had the Pink Floyd emblems and things like that available? I remember working at a VW dealership in the late 90's and would see that kind of stuff in the parts catalog with the regular parts but we couldn't order them
