Menu Pricing

I work for a Peterbilt truck dealership. We have three dealerships and we as Service Managers have been asked to come up with a Menu Pricing program. I have polled my collegues from other Heavy Duty Truck Dealerships and this hasn't been approached. I know the Automotive industry has been involved with this type of program for years ... any suggestions, cautions, hand holding? Appreciate your input .. Thanks.

Start with, as many as possible, services you perform everyday. LOF, air filters, fuel filters, trans service, axle service, etc.
Build you a Service List, price all individual services at a retail price, or your normal price. Be sure that you are profitable on each service.
I am not sure how PB's are with recommended service intervals, but I am sure that there is something printed. Follow factory recommended intervals, combine the above services together to build a Service Menu. You can offer some discounts if 2 or 3 services are done at the same time.

An example; LOF, replace air filter and fuel filter, fluid and underbody check. priced individually $164.35, priced in the package $139.95.

Is this what you are looking for?

First, don't make it more difficult than it has to be. While there are many things one can do with a menu, get rolling by starting with a basic one.

Note the 10 or 12 (or whatever) most common services which you perform. Write a brief description of each one along with the price you typically charge for it. If the prices vary a bit, figure out what the average is and use that. If the prices vary greatly, then you may want have different menus for different models.

A menu is just that...a menu...like you see in a restaurant. List the item/service with the price after it. Then make it into some printed material and/or signage. After a while you will think of ways to improve it. Have fun!
