ABC sourcing/family pricing

Postby JimH » Tue Mar 21, 2000 8:34 pm

We use family pricing, ie all Durastop brakes one price, all air filters one price. To do this I have all these parts in one source, 131 and don't update the prices. In 2101 I input the list price I want.
I just started using ABC sourcing last month, after following several discussions on this forum. However, since this source isn't a GM source, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, or 06
the system won't let me set it up in ABC.
Does anybody have any suggestions? How can I get around this?

Dear Jim,
There is a couple of ways to do what you want to do with your abc sourcing, if you are not using GM goodwrench exhaust source, you can set up your abc sourcing there and it will work like your other abc sources. I set up my rsg in the exhaust source.
Good Luck,

Good morning Jim and Gene...

I too use the ABC sourcing feature and I think I know what Jim's problem is.

If your source 131 is an ABC source assigned from another - you cannot ABC it again.

For an example Jim, go to 2323 and add another source just for a test - you can delete it later if you wish. When you've set it up go to 2322, enter GM if you're a multi franchise store with other make codes, and you'll notice the standard GM sources listed (your NS source, standard, priced GSMP, non-priced GSMP, direct ship, competitive collision and goodwrench exhaust). Enter an S at the command line and your screen will go to ABC(DEFGH.....) setup. Enter the source you just added in 2323 and you'll see that you CAN enter ABC source, low piece and high piece information for your new source to go. What you also need to be aware of is that if you want to use the ABC feature from a Non-Standard source you will need to add additional sources in 2323 for that source to branch off to.

i.e. If you added source 800 in 2323 you also need to add other sources, maybe 801,802,803,804,etc. to be your ABC sources for that source.

Sound confusing? it's really not bad.

If you need more info you can contact me at the dealership and I'll walk you through it.

Have a good one!
