I would like to start this post by stating that I am a sales representitive for ADAM systems (MO/AR) as well as a certified installer/trainer for ADAM. I also spent 18 years in the dealership, 6 of those years using the ADAM system before forming my own company. If you have any questions about the ADAM system I will try to answer them for you with no commercials for the product. If you would like tocontact me directly my e-mail address is jmiskell@therural.net

Those of you considering a new system in order to avoid the costs associated with some of the bigger players should take a look at a company called ********** SystemsThey are based in ______ and we have been ecstatic about the product they have and the service they have provided us. We installed them in our GM dealership in October '99 and in our new CDJ store just this past September. You can check them out at www.XXXXXX.

FSWood,
We have been exploring some of the different systems lately, so seeing your post I did check out their web site. I had talked with XYZ a few years back but I don't believe their dispatch system was complete back then so it pretty much eliminated them. It appears as though they have got that taken care of though. Their website does leave me with a couple questions I would prefer to ask another dealer, before I talk to them. We already have PC's throughout our dealership, so I would prefer not to be forced into buying new ones. Were you able to supply your own equipment? What kind of server did they (or you) put in? Would you say the cost savings rated as minor or major? Trying to find an effective system at a good cost savings is our goal.
Thanks,
Gerry Laughlin

We didn't require the dispatching at either of our places so we were able to go with them before that portion of their software was complete. You're right in that it is done now and I've checked it out - good stuff. We supplied all of our own hardware with the exception of the servers. At the GM store we have an HP Netserver and at the Chrysler we are using one from Acer. We did have the option of supplying our own server, but they were familiar with these and I left it up to them. I did check the prices on those servers on the market and what we paid to PBS is about the same thing I would have paid outside. Unlike some others, PBS is flexible and can work with their customers to provide the hardware or the customer can get their own.

I would like to preface this e-mail by letting each of you know that I am the Regional Manager for another DMS provider....so please know that I am somewhat biased. The following information may be considered an ill attempt at marketing our software. I apologize in advance should you feel this way. Yet, I feel it is important that you know there is an affordable full-featured alternative to ADP, UCS, R&R, etc.

As I read through your e-mails there seemed to be a common thread: finding a full-featured, completely integrated DSM/DSP system that is truly affordable.

Our Dealership Management Suite is a system that meets this goal and will go head to head against any of the competition on features, functionality, and price. Based on the IBM AS-400 platform, it is truly an impressive alternative that compromises nothing for the dealership.

Should you want additional information, please call us for more information.

Again, I apologize if this sounds like a commercial, but I do believe you should know there is an alternative to what has always been.

Kenny's right. That did sound like a commercial and this forum is not the place for commercials.

I've gone back and edited several posts that I feel crossed the line between information exchange and commercial promotion.

For anyone who has a product or service to promote, DealersEdge is happy to accept paid advertising. Information on monthly traffic (high), advertising rates (relatively low), and placement options is available by e-mailing sales@dealersedge.com or by calling Brian McCallum at 800-321-5312.

mbowers,

I'm disappointed that you considered my post "commercial promotion" and not simply an exchange of information between interested dealers. I happen to be happy with my DMS, unlike many dealers it seems, and chose to mention their name. Don't you think dealers participating here would appreciate a recommendation and not just reading the "bashing" that goes on? If you're going to delete the names of the company I mentioned, then you should also delete the mentions of ADP and ADAM. Or maybe I should start another topic called "PBS computer system."

I agree with FSWood....it is one thing to ask providers not to post advertising, but to edit a post or restrict discussion of companies between dealers is ridiculous!! I am glad I got the name of the PBS Systems before you edited it. This is why I looked at this post....I am looking for alternatives to visit at NADA. Don't ruin this forum with ridiculous censorship!
