Team system

Interested in reviewing if the team concept for the shop is advantagous for us. What are the key issues to look at to see if it is a viable alternative? For those of you that are currently are under this system, what are the advantages and disadvantages you have encountered? What would you deem prohibitive issues to converting over to it? What are the issues that make it the best way to go? How do the pay plans work for the techs and advisors?

You don't say what make your store is which could make a difference. Teams have worked best in import stores where techs are bumper to bumper. Teams work the best when you have maxed out production under your current set up. Team leaders are paid a higher flat rate of pay along with a bonus that can be based on either hours produced by the team or team productivity. The team is assigned with a service advisor and they work the same scheduled days on and off. When our store maxed out we went to teams about 9 months ago and have never looked back. Buisness has increased by over 30% per month with part of the reason being the team setup making the shop more effecient. Personalities is one of the dificulties in setting up along with getting them used to the idea of splitting hours. Also getting effective team leaders can be a challenge but overall in the stores I have set them up in the results are worth the effort you have to put into it. Email me if I can be of any assistance to you.
