SOMETHING NEW: Offering a "Nitrogen Tire Fill" service in your serv.dept. can entice people to buy tires from you which in turn gives you a chance to provide related under car services. Nitrogen gives you a competitive edge + helps you sell more tires. Tires help sell service. Service helps sell vehicles.Ingersoll Rand makes a nitrogen generator that works off your shop air compressor. Nitrogen provides better tire pressure retention, enhances tire life, better fuel economy+improved safety.

Gee Ed,where would you reccomend we would purchase this unit? Not B&I, of course, because that would be selling on this forum. I'm sure that would not be your intent.

Umm ... yeah. On all counts.

Plus we discussed this idea a while back at: http://www.dealersedge.com/forums/noncg ... 00639.html

Two thoughts out of this post though:
(1) I encourage everyone to use the search function up there underneath Post Reply.

(2) I am kind of thinking of starting a dedicated forum that would be for blantant plugs and those types of messages. It is a real balance on these forums between tightly restricting advertising and closing our eyes to something that might be new and innovative. Plus then when these things come up I can just move them over to there. Does everything think this would be a good idea?

Rob:
I doubt that establishing a separate area will keep sales people from posting advertisements. I belong to several mailing lists and moderated forums on boating and they have the same issues. They require a valid email address and they confirm this address by sending an email and then you respond to this email to join. If you violate the rules they terminate your membership.

I think your prior practice of deleting sales posts is effective. I dont object to a new area but I dont think it will solve the problem.
