Labor Grid Pricing

Postby madsr » Fri Apr 01, 2005 6:38 pm

I'm looking for some opinions and sugestions on grid pricing. ie: at what point should it kick in 1.1? hrs, 3.1hrs?etc. And how high in $dollar value above my current posted rate should I let it go. Currently it starts @ .1 hrs and goes as high as $35.00 above my posted door rate of $80.

I honestly think there as many varations as there are managers doing them. My suggestion would be to determine your average hours per customer paid repair order and make sure your desired effective labor rate kicks in before then.

The most typical matrix I see kicks in at 1.1, raises a dime every tenth, so a buck for every hour. The cut off is usually 10 or 11 hours.

I use the reynolds& reynolds grid in 3763 to create a grid then i modify it to meet my specific needs. 1.1 - 5.0 is where i am more aggressive with the grid. I then adjust the higher labor hrs so i dont blow customers out.

good luck

Note that whole hours and half hours tend to be the most used on the grid. To achieve the most amount of effective labor rate increase, be sure to make whatever increases you place on the these cells be more agressive than on the non-whole or half. Above .9 and below 10.0 hours should be sufficient.
