Saturday hours

Our Saturdays have not taken any work away
from the week. However, if you rotate your guys and give them Monday off, then your hours of production are the same, but probably your effective labor rate will go down becasue of the type of work that traditionally will come in on Saturday. We open on Saturdays because of customer convenience and will pay the guys overtime and therefore do not lower your week day hours available. It does stress everyone, but the money is great for them and customers really like it. The biggest probelm we have isthe waiters. the volume of waiters can kill you. You try real hard to stagger the appointment schedules so poeple are not waiting to be written up. This is the only CSI issue we have with Saturday service

This week we gained two new car lines and are seriously considering 4/10 work days remaining open on Saturday....We should have enough techs since we are consolidating two stores into one. We will need the extra stall space Saturday and extended hours will offer. If any of you guys are currently on a 4 day work week schedule I would very much appreciate an email. I would like to speak with you in detail. I have only 30 days to come up with a plan.....help!

Instead of Saturday hours, we stay open until 8:00pm Tuesday and Thursday nights. 1/2 stay 1 night, the other 1/2 stays the other night. The advantage for the techs is it gives them the entire weekend off, and they only stay 3 extra hours 1 night a week. Most of the work is small/no profit work, but many times that quick oil change turns into a nice job. When we had Saturday hours, just getting techs motivated was a chore. With extended weekday hours, techs are already there and it's only an extra 3 hours.
