Billing parts with SPG

Billing parts with SPG

Postby Jaybee » Sat Jun 16, 2007 2:43 pm

I am a long-time parts manager with a new job that requires me to assist in service. We are on R&R and use SPG. It seems we are spending way too much time having service advisors call over to parts to bill oil changes.I know it is just a few keystrokes to bring up the SPG parts and bill them. However I would like to automate this if at all possible. I have set up misc. charges to bill tire taxes etc. before, but this seems like a different animal. After spending two hours on R&R online support, the short answer still seems to be no. I remain unconvinced.
Thanks in advance for any help.

ERA does have a product called One Step Service that does bill parts automatically. Check out this link for more details:

I use 3625 and bill the oil & filter out under #12. We have 5 GM lines and we have SPG, I mapped the lof ops to spg and it works great.

We do have One Step Service. I went in and changed line 59 in 3621 to Y. I changed both the department and all my advisors. Will this set-up work only on One-Step RO's? I would like to do this on all my RO's if possible. We do not always use the 3601 One-Stop RO's. As far as setting it up in 3625 It seems like it will do what I currently have. I am trying to eliminate the advisor calling back to Parts to bill the RO.
Thanks in advance for your help.

The automatic billing only works for One Step RO's.

Jaybee,
In 3625 the parts are not automatically billed, but they come up in the parts screen so all parts has to do is accept. This is set up on all of my "Quick" ops...LOF, Trans Services, Coolant Services, EFI services, Headlight Restorations, etc. When it is mapped to SPG, it gets the correct part # if you have your parts dept set up correctly.

Another route is to use GOG for billing your oils and filter(s). We have been doing it this way for years and if set up correctly can streamline the LOF process a lot.

Jaybee,

You may also want to check & see if you have the parts alert option turned on. The parts alert prints to a network printer in parts, and has the RO#, VIN number, and customer info, as well as the breakdown of parts associated with the ticket from SPG. This would give your counterpersons a heads up of what tickets need to have parts billed out. Feel free to drop me a line if you need a hand setting this up.

On One-Step, you will also want to make sure that the quick operations (ie: LOF's, rotates, etc) are being written up in 3601. Only tickets written through 3601 will automatically post the parts.
