Parts vs Service Manager Pay

As a rule, who makes more in your store...the parts manager or the service manager? Is pay based on a % of Gross or net? What over all percent of gross is paid out?

In most cases, the service manager will make more than the parts manager. However, if you have a parts manager in charge of multiple locations, he'll make more than a service manager of a single point location.

Pay should be based on a percentage of parts and service remaining gross and fixed operation profits.

I was just curious. I have looked at paying all fixed managers out of the same pool using the same base but I have not been satisfied with what I have come up with. I am trying to stay in the range of 7 % of gross in parts before transfer and 5% of gross in Service with the parts transfer. Is that what others are experienceing?

each manager: 5% of the total gross
and 10% of the total net ...of the department they are responsible for...
(negative on the net and yes 10% of the negative number gets subtracted from the gross number..) If they attain 25% net to gross another $500.00

please tell me (negative on the net and yes 10% of the negative number gets subtracted from the gross number..) is based on semi-fixed and even at that there are many factors that play into who decide what goes into who's department and how much of it goes there. I can see maybe a bonus on net. And as far as the net always being neg. then there will always be some discussion with the powers that be about getting those up. (hint get them up or get out)

sp1728 - do you need a parts manager? My annual pay based on your numbers would be over $170,000 anually (unless I don't understand something, which is common)! I WILL relocate!

I find it amusing that most parts managers make about 1/3 to 1/2 of what a service manager makes.

If you read the various threads about someone considering moving from parts mgr to svc mgr and most of the answers are along the lines of "don't do it, parts is so much easier."
