The peer group is another problem , they wont tell you who is in your peer group
it's a big secret . So who are you compaired too ????
If i go to a service and parts club meeting and ask "who is high in brake expense"
every service mgr will put up there hand?

I am in Calif and we do not have the rust issue or brake issue that I am reading in this forum. The truth on the peer group is that it is like size dealers with like number of vins serviced and your AVM has no idea who they are. If you want an eye opener have all the guys in your service club bring there DA report and compare. You know the AVM tells you that youre # 1 in a certain area but when you look at the other guys they are right there with you.

Woody i know what your going through. My avm is all over me about brake expense also. I am at level 3 for Dsr. i have never been to that level before. Brakes is the biggest item that is causing my problems. I get so frustrated over this. I don't believe in charging my customers but feel i have to in ordinary to get out of trouble. The worst part of it is i know there are dealers around that are charging customers for repairs and gm tells me they can not control what other dealers are doing.Any one else been to level 3?

Warranty brake rotors for 3/36 no way. may seem like metal but it is in fact a wear item. One time for warpage during 12/12 and then out. Froze caliper incidental damage OK.
Rust is normal for your market.

C'mon people it's the same old story over and over again. When GM has a problem rather than fessing up to the problem, like other manufacturers do, they blame it on the dealer. That is why market share for domestics keeps dropping. GM forces it's dealers NOT to take care of it's customers, as with this brake issue and many other issues that seem a product problem, buy sayiny warranty $ are to high as to peer group. Will GM ever learn that when you say NO to a customer in service they go to the imports. It's that simple

I am curious whether or not any of you non-GM franchises have this rust and warpage problem? It was terrible here. (north central Ohio) I must admit that the GM brake procedures have cut repeat repairs by quite a bit.

We haven't seen the rust problems much in idaho, but do to the hilly terrain there is a lot of complaint about pulsation. the policy was 12/12 on brake pulsation repairs, everything was done with brake align to correct, and rarely did we have any return. After the 12/12 it was goodwillable up to 24/24, after that it was customer pay as the pulsation was not a defect in materials as much as it was poor driving habits on the customers part. Our CSI scores stayed high (above 75 top box) all the time, it really becomes a matter of presentation and training the advisors on how to present it to the customers. Of course you will alwys get the cusotmers that don't care, and don't want to hear that it is because of the hills (never say its there fault lol) and you deal with those on a case by case basis.

to the person that said GM won't take responsibility - there is truth in that with all manufactures. We had 4 different ones with 4 different sets of rules.... but here is an interesting tid bit. A customer buys a brand new Nissan drives 30 miles from the lot and the car breaks down, you are going to have a heck of a time getting nissan to pay for the tow bill unleess the customer bought the quality guard(nissan) extended warranty which only covers up to 100.00 in tow anyway.
unless they have changed that in the last month or so that right there would push me never to buy a nissan.
