car care clinic

I have never offered a free car care clinic and would like to ask for best practices. What kind of response do you typically get? Do you advertise to your current customers only or to everyone in general? Do you perform the work on the same day or is it inspections only? How frequent do you offer the free clinics?
Thanks for your input:-)

I have done women's care car clinics in the past and also have been part of doing free inspections as part of "Day of Service" for the AARP in our local area. Response among the retirees was postive (about 15-25 people) however the women's clinics were small. Anywhere from 3-8 people.
The women's clinics focused more on things like how to check/set tires pressures, checking fluids, changing a flat tire, etc.
The inspections for the AARP group were free and if they wanted work done that day we did it the same day (unless of course parts not in stock, etc).
We did the AARP "clinic" once a year and the Women's Clinic I did in the Spring and in the Fall.

Also, is any one doing new owners clinics anymore these days? I have thought about starting them at our store/autogroup.

Thanks for any input on that!

Appreciate the feedback. We have not done new car clinics in about 10 years. We did offer an open house about 2 years ago, mostly to new and used vehicles purchased here. It was a small turn put, but the food was good.

Your "Day of Service", how is that marketed? Do you send out letters to only your customers, or to anyone within certain zip codes?

It was in the paper-events annoucement sections and in the local AARP meetings and at the dealership as well.
