I HAVE A QUESTION WHERE DOES WARRANTY BORDER LINE WITH PERFORMANCE PARTS LIKE WHERE DO THEY DRAW THE LINE BETWEEN ABUSE AND NORMAL USE.

What manuf. are we thinking about? For instance GM (with the exception of the engine) there isn't a warranty as they say..

GM Performance Parts Warranty
Due to the nature and intended usage, GM performance parts (except for engines and partial engines) are sold without any express or any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. The entire risk as to the performance of such parts is with the buyer.
Should such parts prove defective following their purchase, the buyer and not the
manufacturer, distributor, or retailer, assumes the entire cost of all necessary servicing, repair, damage or loss to property and consequential damage.

With the engine they say This warranty specifically excludes engines or partial engines used in racing or competition or that fail as a result of alteration. In the absence of proof of racing (i.e., numbers painted on the outside of the vehicle) or alteration I'd cover it after getting powertrain prior approval.

I am sure other manuf are similar.

Unless there is ironclad, indisputable proof of racing, neglect, misuse, etc. I cover the repair under warranty....and I've never met a "factory rep" who disagreed with that philosophy.

Of course, if there *is* no warranty....as with many HP parts....there's nothing to discuss.

Cheers
