Extended warranties

I agree with all latter posted comments. All extended service contracts not sold by our dealership pay by credit card. It should be noted that the "First Extended" service contracts are all dealer underwritten and just managed by the First Extended Service Corporation in Dallas Texas. If anyone experiences a "we will get authorization and call you back" from them it is because the claim has exceeded the dealer set authorization given to First Extended and they have to call someone, such as myself in our dealership, to review and get authorization. They also pay by credit card. I am glad to see so many positive comments considering the direction this topic took at the start.

Extended warranties

Today, these companies pay by credit card and we welcome their business. We always get payment agreements prior to the repair. Occasionally, We run into a company that will not pay by credit card and explain to the customer, prior to the repair, that they will need to pay the bill and then seek reimbursement from their company. We very rarely release a vehicle until payment is received. Our experience has been very positive.

Extended warranties

I see I am a little behind in responding to this one. :[ Out of all the listed companies I am surprised I haven't see Universal Warranty Co. out of Omaha Ne. They are great !! If you are not a selling dealer they DO have a corporate credit card. They are the BEST in my book, even better than GMPP....

Extended warranties

There is only one great extended warranty and that is GMPP. I have my share of problems with them however they are by far better in every way then any aftermarket extended warranty company than any of the dozens that I have delt with.Sorry I don't have a good aftermarket one to recommend. After 15 years of doing this I have lost faith.

Extended warranties

We are a large Ford/Nissan dealer in PA and we have bben using Platinum Warranty Corporation for 2 years now. No problems, the prices are right the incentives are huge to the F&I/owners and the reputation is available online. www.dealersprofit.com...I stand by them to make the most $$$ and they have a 100% refund program, if the customer doesn't use the policy they get all the money back! But, the real strong point here is that the check is sent to the dealership naming customer as payee. What a way to get repeat business!

GRAIN OF SALT WARNING!!!

Before you pursue the above "testimonial" post please keep the following items in mind:

User information for Anthony says he's from Cleveland, Ohio. The CEO of this company's name is Anthony and they are located in Cleveland. The logged IP address is from an ISP located in Cleveland, Ohio. Then in the body of the post the user says he's from a dealer in PA. That's quite a commute.

Look, I could just delete the post, but I wanted to demonstrate two things: (1) be careful of what you read on the net unless you know and trust the source, and (2) we actually do monitor and investigate what's going on with these boards. We want to make sure, to the best of our ability, that you're getting the helpful information you came looking for.

Be careful of the business ethics of who you do business with.

Extended warranties

I have dealt with outside extended warranty firms in my 23 years of warranty claim work but still prefer always GM's GMPP and even more so with WINS processing making it a seamless experience with ease of claim make up and payment via bi-weekly claim memos. Of course the use of the LTG flat rate allowance is always less in labor but in the long run GMPP serves you well and ties the customer to your dealership through the life of the car if you spend the time and take care to ensure their experiences are always up to their expectations. Which in essence is why we are all here!

Extended warranties

We have dealt with several extended warranties over the years including RYAN,DBS
Universal,Liberty National and most recently,
GMPP and API. I have nothing but praise for API as we have been using them for over a year and have had many positive experiences.
The great thing with API is the rates they pay which is full retail labor rates, Chilton time labor and list on parts. This is a good positive for the departments and the claim process is easy for the advisors and techs love the hours. Also, basically it mirrors GMPP in many ways, and you do not have to wait for adjusters to come out as the service manager can oversee and advise much as we do with GM warranty. GMPP of course has alot of ease in claims and the customer convenience of being able to visit any GM dealer and not have to worry about if the dealer will accept their policy. The negative for the service department of course as we all know is that paying warranty labor time is a bitter pill to swallow, and causes alot of resentment from technicians who have to work on the many older vehicles and still get stuck with the low warranty pay times. This is where I hear the most complaints from the techs as you look at the same job such as an evaporator core that may pay 7.0 on a vehicle with an API contract and same vehicle pays 3.2 with a GMPP. The tech has to do the same amount of work for either for less than 1/2 the rate. Thankfully our f&I personell are selling API on most all used vehicles and GMPP pretty much only on new vehicles which at least gives us a good mix.
