Flushes in service

How many of you are recommending trans, coolant and power steering flushes in your departments? I used to do alot of them but have gotten out of the habit of recommending them in the last few years. Obviously, my sales have gone down too. Is there still a market for dealer recommended services such as these? Thanks!

GM has really come down on all of the dealers in our area on selling unnecessary maintenance, especially flushes. I can only speak from a GM standpoint. I've never been a fan of selling unneeded serivces no matter how much $ it brings. I'm sure there is a market, but do you want to be that dealer on the news that's selling unnecessary snake oil treatments to people. No thanks, I'll take the good WOM.

Flushes are just as important as they were 10-15 years ago just not as often. The fluids are better and the cars run cleaner than they did then but a good flush schedule will keep your car running a lot longer than without. Sorry the fluids age just like engine oil just not as fast. On newer cars I recommend a 60,000 interval not the 30,000 that most places recommend but I still recommend them.

I don't beleive in selling unnecessary items either. However, I do know that fluids age like everything else and I live in a climate where the weather extremes put a lot of stress on things. -30 in the winter to 95 in the summer. Anyone pulling a boat, hay trailer, horse trailer stresses the vehicle. I to feel that a 60k service on the trans, ps and coolant makes sense for the driver that does more than just drive to work and back in a small town.
