Do you have one central punch clock for booking slips or does every tech have their own. How much do you inforce correct punch times on all ro's. meaning you pull a tech off for a quick lof or quick service does he punch out on current ro or just keeps running the clock on that ro. what happens when he is working on two cars waiting for parts or an okay on one. Warranty punch times is the issuie im getting at.Thanks

Bob,

Is your shop big enough for tech terminals?
That can eliminate a lot of skipped punches, and gives you very accurate productivity and efficiency numbers.

In response there may seem to be to be two answers but only one counts. As with any business the name on the sign is who ultimately answers to the highest authority. It may say Bob Smith FordChevAmChrysWagon but when it comes down to brass tacks FordChevAmChrysWagon foots the bill froma liability standpoint. This is why all vendors such as R&R, ADP, ADAM ad infinitum sit down with the manufacturers and write software to adhere to policy. From a manufacturer standpoint you can only work on ONE vehicle at a time. Not only is this a legality but for productivity and efficiency driven stats for the dealers sake it is imperative. Provenly productive, customer oriented, profitable shops have used this standard and it works. However, it time, effort and good management.

Punch Clocks

I purchased clocks for all my techs on ebay. Most were between $40.00 and $75.00. I figured for the amount of time it would take for the others at the far end of shop to continually come to the 1 clock it would make life much easier. In our case the Generals Rep(GM AVM) said he needed to see the clock punches on all RO's, so be it. We must keep the General happy.
