ALLDATA

Does anyone know the cost of ALLDATA and if it's worth it? From my experience with it, it has the same information as what can be found on company intranets, such as GM's Dealerworld. Please, if anyone is out there who uses it, what is the benefit to subscribing to it? Am I missing something?

We use the ALLDATA on our tech's PCs so they will have data for the older vehicles. GM drops some of the info after 10 years and we still have the older cars coming in. It is also helpful for our used vehicles and our customers have other vehicles in their families that we service. It is $175.00 per month for the service.

Plus it sure is handy if the owners brother-in-laws Toyota or whatever needs to be looked at.

I think it's about $150 a month. If you cannot get that back out of it I would be surprised.

It is a pretty good source of information, bulletins etc from most all manufacturers. FR time for most repairs, and a lot of repair proceedures.

As Gerry mentioned, it's great to have for repairs to those brands you dont sell, and for your used car tech, he'll love it!

i was reluctant to sign up for it for a long time. i'm sorry i waited so long. as mentioned, the service information is good, taken right from the different manufacturer's info. really helps us on our used cars, and since we are in a small town, we get calls from brand x owners quite often. in the past, we would turn some of that work down, consequently, they were going to the independents.
the labor time guides are pretty accurate, which also helps when dealing with these aftermarket extended warranty companies, since that is the guide they use.
there is also an estimating feature that you can customize to make professional looking estimates.
it also has some parts pricing, which is fairly accurate, altho, i will always get a quote from our parts dept.
lots of other info available as well.
in my opinion, it's worth the cost.

One of the reasons we chose Alldata over Mitchel on demand was that GM tech assist uses Alldata for the old gm stuff.

Also, the parts and labor quote info for other makes and models is very helpful.

We have used ALLDATA for a while now. It has alot of good information. At the present we are looking into Mitchell On Demand. We have been given a 14 day free trial. The wiring diagrams are great. Thier data bank goes back to 1960. The information is the same thing I see from the old books, Not scanned in like the Alldata. Give Seth a call at Mitchell and try it out for yourself. His number is 1-888-724-6742. He's knowledgable and easy to talk to. Tell him Peter from Lake BPG sent you.
Hope this helps you decide which system is best for you. Also the cost of Mithell is about $50.00 less per month than what we pay for Alldata.

We're a Chevy/Cadillac franchise and have used Alldata online for a number of years. It costs $175 per month, but it's worth every dollar. It's not only very helpful for older customer pay vehicles, it's also a big help on off brands that we get in on trade. Sales doesn't have to send them out and we keep the repair dollars at the dealership. Another thing that's great about Alldata is their e-mail assistance. I've needed wiring diagrams or schematics for old vehicles and would e-mail my request and an Alldata rep would fax me exactly what I needed, within minutes of my request. I could go on and on about Alldata, but to sum it up.... It's Great!
