Florida Retail Reimbursement For Warranty Law

Florida Retail Reimbursement For Warranty Law

Postby sermgreby » Thu May 01, 2008 5:20 pm

The Florida Legislature has passed a revised retail for warranty law. The new law is a lot tougher than the law passed last year was was necesitated because the manufacturers found ways to get around the law, mostly by intimidation or heavy handed tactics to "encourage" their dealers to not apply for proper reimbursement for warranty repairs.

They are now running an add on the radio and have a web site saying the legislature has passed a law to raise the price of auto repairs in the State of Florida for consumer.

This is obviously a blatant lie. If anything this law will help to keep the cost of repairs down for the consumer as we will be getting proper compensation from hte factory we will not have to charge the customers more to stay profitable.

If you are in the State of Florida please contact the Governors office at 850-488-4441 and encourage him to sign the bill into law. Also a deluge of e-mails will help his address is charlie.crist@myflorida.com.

I have allready called his office and I can tell you people have been calling off the radio adds as they knew as soon as I called what law I was talking about.

I too have called to encourage the law. I am in Tallahassee and would lobby for the law. My customers have mentioned it in the last couple of weeks. It is fun to explain to them that this law is good for them. Once they understand that raising the labor and parts on the factory helps us operate at a better price on the retail.
Florida dealers need to help push this law!!!

I got that FADA fax today too, and yes you should send a letter. The manufacturers are now running ads clearly lying to consumers and bashing their "greedy" dealers at the same time. Hmmm... I wonder if Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mercedes, VW, Audi and the few others that pay retail are looking at GM and Ford - especially you GM, for its "I am above the law" attitude - for helping to cause this mess. Threats and bullying are a great way to act when you don't get your way ... stay classy GM.
