Service/parts pricing overrides

Service/parts pricing overrides

Postby partsguy » Fri Aug 23, 2002 10:28 am

I would like to know of others are having the same problem that I have:

When selling accessories on a Internal RO, parts has no control over pricing. This is a problem with us, as we have a multi-tiered markup, based on what the accessory is. IE, running boards are supposed to be cost +20%, but the system overrides to c +25%. New truck manager thinks I'm "ripping him off", and my accessory sales have lagged due to the trust issue. I asked the EDS rep if I could change the default in Serviceline to c +20%, and then adjust up for higher mark up as necessary. He says "I don't think so", and "this is the way dealers wanted it". I was a PL beta dealer, and let me tell you, it is not what I wanted! Service should have NO control over parts pricing with the possible exception of warranty. Any ideas?

The set up you are looking for is in serviceline. The sale type will override any changes you make. Service has to change the set up. Remember, service is selling the part to sales, you sell to service & they have to make the change.(It makes sence if you think about it.)The other way you can do it is to sell the parts on a counter ticket to sales dept.

Partstom,

I know that the set up is in Serviceline. I know that it overrides... There HAS to be some way around it! And no... it doesn't make sense- I'm not selling the accessory to service, but sales. I suppose I could sell on a counter ticket, but the office wouldn't like it.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

Either set up a New Sale type in Serviceline, (IA=Internal Accessory), or just bill it on a counter ticket. If I were you, I would prefer the counter ticket method, since I am a GM dealer.....no 50/50 split that way.....
If your office or service manager doesn't know how to set up a new sale type, call EDS, and tell them exactly what you want, they can walk you through it, then all you have to do is make sure your advisors write it up under the new sale type, and presto....you're done....

EDS make changes to the Part application for Internal pricing because we had a number of request to do so. In order to override internal part pricing you must go into SERVICELINE.
The sale type in SERVICELINE will override any changes you make to part pricing to a service order. Service must change the set up in order to reflect any price changes. Keep in mind that service is selling the part to sales, if you sell to service, service had the control of the pricing of the part.
The only other way to get around that it to sell the parts on a counter ticket to the correct sales account.
If there are any further questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
