D2D Link, new Parts Locator

If your Parts Rep hasn't been by yet, you'll find out soon enough. Rapid 2000 locator will be discontinued as of 1/1/03. OEconnection, a joint venture of GM, Ford, Daimler/Chrysler and Proquest (formally B+H), will be the new locator of choice for GM. Currently, the only way we will have to upload our inventories will be to do a FTP upload each day. I have been in touch with EDS, and the work on the Query for this application is in process. In the past, we were able to upload automatically each night, but I am not sure there will be a way to do this, since the file won't be going to GM. Thanks Matt, for expediting the Query work that we will need to get this project going.

Richard, we are in process of building a way where you will be able to easily FTP data out of your system to any third-party or OEM site. This will be in place by the end of this year.

Hey, this is Jason again. I was just wondering what the status of the D2D project is. With little more then a month away, time is a tickin'

It's coming, I have talked to EDS almost everyday about this last week, we are waiting on a license for a 3rd party software, so we can set this to run automatically, basically as it is running now under RAPID. Gene and his team are making strides to get us up, especially when they had little to no information from GM/D2D prior to the Dealer meetings in the Southeast region.

Hey, I called OEConnection on this, and they had stated that there is a plan worked out, but they were not able to get me any info on this for a few days. I was wondering if there was any insight I could get before that....

Yeah Jason, you have to have a machine connected to the internet permanatly (DSL or Cable) and you have to buy 2 programs from EDS. One is an upgrade to Executive Assistant,and the other is a automation program that sends your data daily for you. I got my 1st upload to run today, and I should be certified tomarrow. I am one of 2 pilots for this, so by the time we run it a few times, it should be pretty flawless for you.

The solution we are putting in place is the basis for transmitting data to any third-party provider/supplier you would want to work with.

What about the new dms@net ASP model? Can it send a parts list to D2D Link as well?

Yes. There is no loss in functionality by moving to the ASP model, and in fact clients will see additional functionality such as managed Internet connectivity for each employee (user) in the store, web mail for each user, etc.
