ADP/R&R into Excel

ADP/R&R into Excel

Postby amorsella » Thu Nov 10, 2005 6:57 pm

My company extracts data from our dealer/clients ADP and/or R&R. The reports we require are Inv. Summary, and Sales History (barring their customer info. obviously). We then ask them to import into an Excel file.

It seems that this is a very difficult task for most dealers to import these reports into an .xls document. Does anyone have any idea on how I can help my dealers, and refer them to menus where importing into Excel can facilitate the process . . .?

As for ADP, there are several relatively easy ways for data to move from the DMS platform to Excel. One way for the Elite/Web2000 platform is to use the reflections software mentioned in the previous posting. With Web2005, the system is being built so you literally can grab reports from the system and they can be automatically brought into Excel with a single mouse click.

With the DMS@NET platform, the client use a software package called Executive Assistant or EA. This allows them to easily query the database and then download into Excel. In fact, a listing of many of the standard reports are located in on www.dealersuite.com/ARG in the area called dealer download center. These reports can be viewed or the executeable can be selected and downloaded to a dealers system and they can begin to immediately run these reports.

Hope this helps.

Just found out from ADP that there is a generator called RPX - it is the same as RPG but instead of printing, it exports to an Excel file or .csv (email address). It works on PC's that are running Reflections. Have used it for both and it works great. One note - do not use it on a PC that does not have Excel - it will dump it to your standard printer. Had one oopsie that wasted over 500 sheets of paper. All reports listed under RPG are also under RPX. Currently running ADP 9200/Elite.

RPX is great. Use it all of the time.
