2014 Retail Plan Meeting

2014 Retail Plan Meeting

Postby PartsPlant81 » Tue Sep 10, 2013 3:12 pm

For those of you that attended the conference call this morning. The only thing that is changing and worse for us is we will be getting our @$$es handed to us on batteries come 1/1/14 now in addition to no change to the brake pad special and oil change special!
Hope for the pricing structure to be fixed in 2015!

Meh!!! I don't participate in the national promotions. Only if a customer asks about one, will I offer. Our profitability would take a beating, if I did. None of our POV materials get put up. GM asking us to get ass raped on profit while they make the same no matter what they sell, is absurd!!

This is what happens when you can go bankrupt via Chapter 11,come up with new franchise agreements made up IN FAVOR of the Corporation based on McDonalds franchise agreements.
Have all the Chevy stores look the same.Have all Buick-GMC stores look the same.Have all
Cadillac stores look the same. Now you can advertise that you CAN get that cheeseburger for
the same price any place you live in the good old USA.They don't care if there dealer body is
barely profitable. It's all about generating as much money FOR the General NOW in order to
create VALUE for the SHAREHOLDERS, so the stock price goes up.Gotta make that that quarterly
report look good.At one time they pretended they are partners with the dealers, but that was a looong time ago. Now,it's all about controlling the dealers in order to MAXIMIZE the the bottom line
for GM.

I am a small single line Cadillac store. My most popular battery is 101PS which has a dealer cost of $129.10. GM wants us to sell these at $129.95 or less. In the past 12 months I have sold 68 of these for a profit of $2986.00. If I sell them at the price GM wants us too I will have to sell 3512 of these batteries to make the same amount of profit. Something has got to give here, not just the dealers!

Anybody can give something away when it doesn't come out of their pocket. My service dept is a perfect example. They want to give parts away everyday. So they can get their 79% gross profit on labor dollars, they want me to cut the customer a break on that overpriced hub bearing I buy from GM. That after GM has effectively taken my 10-20% discount away by shutting down my Delco WD purchases.

This looks like another attempt at "Family Pricing" which would be fine, if the cost was adjusted on GM's side to make this work.
It's funny how they want this done on our side, but they won't support it by making it cost the same across the board...
Gotta luv it.

Just curious about the battery offering. They have the red series professional battery, $99 an change plus labor. They are not including the adavantage line battery which at one time was classified as the good of the good - better - best. Our WD does not carry the complete line of the red series line of professional batteries. Other than price, both advantage and professional carry the same warranty, 18 months. Who sells the professional line in place of the advantage line. Example would be the 78A vs 78P. Also I see that the parts catalog does not list the P series battery as a replacement, the choices are PG , PS, an A.

Yup, noticed that yesterday when I looked up a few random batteries for VINS I already had in my EPC. Several times there was only one type of battery offered - either PG or PS.

Just another department making decisions outside of the real world without consulting people that are in the real world. This is really getting old
